An email app without an inbox; that can't work, can it? Well, Let.ter for Mac ? and specifically OS X Mavericks ? goes down that very path, offering you the ability to write emails, and nothing more.
Let.ter is a new approach to email, one that lets you focus on your message without the distractions of your email inbox. No notifications, no inbox zero to achieve, no folders and tags and complexities. Just you and your email.
It's an interesting concept, and one that takes a little getting used to. Take the Mobile Nations staff for example, email is a huge part of our day, with barely a minute going by without something hitting the inbox. But the inbox is the single most distracting part of the email 'experience' and in eliminating it, Let.ter is offering something for the productivity machines among us.
I've been playing around with it only a short time, but I'm already quite into it. It comes with full Markdown support to help you craft those well laid out messages, and comprises a simple window to compose, add your recipient(s), and preview the message before sending. Not having to open up your full inbox to write an email is refreshing, and since Let.ter is such a lightweight client, it's quick, simple, and all round a delight to use.
It's not available through the Mac App Store right now, and it is only compatible with OS X Mavericks, but you get a free 7 day trial to put it to work before having to pay for it. And the price? A more than reasonable $2.80. I know I'm hooked, so if you decide to try it out, let me know how it works for you too.
